How Your Due Date is Calculated
A standard human pregnancy is approximately 40 weeks (280 days) from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). However, conception usually happens about two weeks after your period starts.
Calculation Methods:
- LMP Method: Uses Naegele's rule, adding 280 days to the first day of your last period.
- Conception Method: If you know exactly when you conceived, we add 266 days to that date.
- IVF Method: Calculated based on the transfer date and whether it was a 3-day or 5-day embryo transfer.
Weeks 1-12. Crucial development of organs and basic structures.
Weeks 13-26. The "golden period" where morning sickness often fades.
Weeks 27-40. Rapid growth and preparation for the big arrival.
